The spaces

Inside & out

The great room from the kitchen end: the butcher-block island and leather stools on the left, the sofa on the right, the front door at the end of the hall, and the loft with its two armchairs up under the peak
01

The great room

Step through the front door and the whole cabin opens up beneath the peak of the A-frame, the kitchen, dining and living spaces sharing one airy, light-filled room. Settle into the deep sofa for a game of chess, gather around the butcher-block island for dinner, and look up to find the loft looking down over it all from just beneath the ridge.

The hot tub

Set at the edge of the deck, looking straight into the forest canopy. Whether you’re wrapping up a day on the Blue Ridge trails or closing your laptop after a remote workday, this is where the evening begins.

03

The screened porch

An outdoor living room built under the full-size peak of the A-frame. Anchored by a deep lounge sofa, dining table, gas fireplace, and porch heater for crisp mountain nights, it’s the heart of the cabin in every season, with a gas grill steps away for easy dinners in.

The fire pit: grey Adirondack chairs around a stone fire ring on gravel, a covered rack and a split-rail fence in the trees behind
04

The fire pit

Just steps from the cabin, a stone fire ring surrounded by modern Adirondack chairs gives you a front-row seat to the night sky. Pick up local firewood nearby, grab a blanket, and settle in for s’mores under the trees.

The kitchen: navy cabinets, a stainless range and fridge, and a long butcher-block island with tan leather stools
05

The kitchen

As the centerpiece of our 2024 remodel, the kitchen features navy cabinetry, full-size stainless appliances, and an oversized butcher-block island. Cook a proper dinner at home, or pull up a leather stool midweek for the best remote workspace in the house, complete with fast Wi-Fi and the porch doors wide open.

The loft: two cream armchairs facing the tall gable window, a candle-style ring chandelier hanging in the peak, trees and a distant ridge through the glass
06

The nook upstairs

At the top of the stairs, two oversized armchairs frame the triangular A-frame windows beneath a wrought-iron chandelier. A past guest dubbed it “the nook upstairs,” and the name stuck. Just beyond it sits the loft’s king bed, beneath the peak of the A.
